CROSS ROADS BIBLE INSTITUTE
Nearly 3,000 years ago, during the period of the Judges, Scripture reveals,
“In those days... everyone did what was right in his own eyes”
Sadly, Scripture would characterize such words as today’s present times. Foundational truths are under siege in every dimension of life. Time-honored values and core beliefs, once embraced as cornerstone truths, have been abandoned. God’s truths have been increasingly ridiculed.
Paul’s words to the Romans resonate clearly and timely: “Professing to be wise, they became fools...and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever” (Rom 1:22-25)
Today, we face the greatest crisis in the history of the Christian church: the collapse of biblical truth. The Word of God -- along with the key theological and biblical doctrines that were once boldly and unashamedly proclaimed before the congregations and even guided our national conscience -- are openly mocked, ignored, or presented in weakened, superficial sound bites, if at all.
Yet there is much we can do and are challenged to do, as individuals. We are called to grow in biblical knowledge and serve God in all areas of our lives. We are to honor God in every aspect of our life. For these reasons, the Cross Roads Bible Institute is dedicated to enriching the lives of those who seek truth.
The Cross Roads Bible Institute is relatively new (late 2009) to Harford County, yet is committed in its exiting journey. We have completed twenty four (24) classes, with more great classes this Fall. Starting this September, we will be offering an exciting slate of classes: “Plants of the Bible -- How Plants Teach Spiritual Lessons" and "Pneumatology -- The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit" (both courses will be held at the Perry Hall Baptist Church, beginning in September). Additionally, at the main location, the Family Life Center of the Upper Cross Roads Baptist Church, we will be offering “Survey: Joshua-Esther” and “Survey: Ezekiel-Malachi.”
We encourage you to consider attending one of our classes, which runs for 10 sessions (once/week, for 10 weeks). The Cost is $50 (for Credit); $20 (for Audit).
May God richly bless you,

Trip to London
Great Theological Studying
I had a chance to travel to London, from June 27 to July 5, 2015.
I studied under a great professor, Dr. Robert Letham, a theology course on "The Trinity -- Ancient and Modern," held at the London Theological Seminary (LTS). It was a rare opportunity to meet with fellow students, pastors, and theologians from all over England, who, I might add, minister all over the world.
Important connections were made, including opportunities to travel and minister in other countries. Even now, possible trips to teach-evangelize in Serbia have opened-up.
"Greetings.... I completed my first day of classes at the John Owen Centre of the London Theological Seminary. I am taking a special course taught by recognized scholar, Dr. Robert Letham, on "The Holy Trinity -- Ancient & Modern." In the one photo, I am seated in the library of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, famous Protestant minister at Westminster Chapel in London, whose commentary on "Romans" have been invaluable to me when teaching in the Ukraine."
"Today was the last day of class on "The Holy Trinity" -- I took a much-needed break to do some quick sightseeing!
This was a wonderful, in-depth class, and done in a classic high-scholarly fashion, with constant readings, student-led presentations, and superb lectures, etc. I was impressed with my English student-colleagues, many of whom are serving in ministries all over the world. In our studies, we engaged great theologians in church history, from the West and the East -- ...Augustine, Athanasius, Gregory of Nyssa, Gregory of Nazianzus, Basil the Great, Calvin, John Owen, and Karl Barth, along with discussions on the "Filioque." I stand in sheer amazement at the greatness of our Triune God and the faith that has been handed down to us.
Finally, below are some photos (a WWII 'Spitfire' in the 1940 "Battle of Britain," positioned in front of Churchill's War Cabinet entrance; and views of Parliament). Looking forward to coming home -- I miss Ruth and my family!"
"Oxford University -- dining with 'J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.' In recognition of my oldest son, John, who has encouraged me to read the writings of C.S. Lewis, I had lunch today at the famous "pub" where Tolkien and Lewis would frequently meet: "The Eagle and Child." A fascinating university pub -- very old inside, and I sat at one of the very tables where both authors had dined. The fish & chips were great!
Thanks John for recommending this to me. Lots of history here!"
